Defiler Takeover is a grouped, limited time Killer in Midnight Horrors. They originates from the ROBLOX game Defend the Statue: Eras of Conflict made by Empyrean Development, although this only applies to the character of Defiler himself, the concept of Defiler Takeover is made by CaptainSpinxs. They were added in Version 1.55.1 for pride month 2024, removed in a later patch when July started for Version 1.57.0, and then readded in Version 1.61.0 (April Fools' 2025), and then yet again readded in Version 1.62.3 for pride month 2025.
Behavior[]
Rather than spawning all at once a large amount of Defilers will periodically spawn throughout the round, 8 Defilers being present in total. Each Defiler has borrowed AI from the original Defiler in Army of Conflict.
Each Defiler runs at around Ultra Coil speed and will chase down the nearest players, firing volleys of rockets at long range and swinging their sword at close range. If players get hit by any rockets or the sword they will be given a fire effect dealing moderate chip damage, this fire also being received if the player is in the blast radius of a rocket.
Notes[]
- The timer will be extended to 2:49 upon Defiler Takeover spawning.
- Each Defiler has a dead zone, where they won't attack with their rocket launcher or sword.
- The Defilers are incapable of bypassing Blue Relic.
- The Defilers will only target "alive" players, however despite this they will still focus down ally NPCs if they're present.
- Each Defiler makes a loud sound upon spawning, this can be used to gauge how many Defilers are currently present early in the round.
- While the Defilers are avoidable via good use of the Ultra Coil and Cloud Jockey, it is much more recommended to be equipped with a Heliotrope Coil for the additional speed. Glass Coil is also viable however the user must remain more cautious on the AoE rockets.
Trivia[]
- Each Defiler uses recolored versions of the ROBLOX Zombie Launcher and All Hallow's Sword.
- Defiler Takeover currently comes in Red, Blue, Orange, Yellow, Green, Purple, Pink, and White flavors.
- Normally Defiler Takeover is a blacklisted killer, meaning it can only be spawned by admins. It was made public for the month of June as apart of Pride Month, thus their rainbow colors.
- Surviving this killer on a classic round would award a badge, granting the player the Last Prism.
- Despite being a June exclusive killer, Defiler Takeover returned for April Fools 2025, with their badge included.
- Most likely due to a bug, forcing Defiler Takeover will still award the badge upon surviving them.
