The Deviled Egg was a Mini boss in Midnight Horrors. He was added in Version 1.50, serving as a minor challenge on Foggy Isle for the Easter 2023 event.
To summon Deviled Egg the map Docks must be chosen, you will need to go towards a blue light next to a boat, prompting you with a button saying "Row out?" Upon doing so you'll be transported to Foggy Island, where after collecting a note will prompt the player will collecting a variety of eggs. The map will be completely safe until the player collects at least one egg, upon doing so the fog will set in and Shadow Demons will begin spawning, more and more will spawn as more and more eggs are collected.
After all eggs are collected you are prompted to "Return to the arena." Upon entering it, a few seconds later red barriers will form around the arena and Deviled Egg will come to life, starting the fight. After defeat, the player is tasked with destroying 5 randomly placed swords, which will allow said player to fight Deus Phantom.
Tips for collecting the eggs: The list of eggs you get is randomized, however all of them are in set locations that stay consistent through attempts. Due to the fact that the Shadow Demons patrol mostly the center of the map, you should get all the eggs that lie around the center first and then focus on the ones on the outskirts, as the Shadow Demons are much easier to avoid on these outskirts. If ever being chased by one or you want a moment of peace, standing on the compass will teleport them away if they get too close, it is confirmed they are afraid of circumnavigation.
Fight[]
Deviled Egg flies around the arena for the entirety of the battle, meaning the only opportunities you get to damage them is when Orb Shot is cast, you can reflect the third Green orb. This boss really shouldn't be a challenge as you are often fighting the hitbox of the shovel more than the boss itself.
It has no confirmed health pool, the best assumption is 4 with any amount of 0's behind it (40, 400, 4000) due to the fact you don't attack it in conventual means. Each time you reflect a green orb back at them, they will take 25% damage.
Tips for beating Deviled Egg (if you need them for some reason): When using Orb Shot try to stay away from their warp locations, it gives increased time to dodge red orbs and to reflect green ones. For reflecting try and stay walking left, this will allow you to hit the orb at the very start of the swing, leading to less of an issue fighting the hitbox of the shovel. Stay relatively immobile during Laser Walls, as each wall has a small gap between it.
Attacks[]
- Orb Shot: Casts a set of three homing fire orbs, each orb will try to home into the player once close, he will zip between 2-4 points after every shot. Every third shot is a green orb, which can be reflect to deal damage. These deal about 15 damage to the player. If any of the orbs fired touch the walls of the arena, they will begin to orbit around the player before eventually closing in and exploding. It is generally favorable to not jump during the fight so as to avoid this happening.
- Laser Walls: Deviled Egg only uses this attack after they take damage, they will throw down 5 orbs on the ground that will form large beam that flies outwards towards the player. Deviled Egg will attempt to predict your movement while firing, however is not that accurate in doing so. For every hit Deviled Egg takes they recast Laser Walls once more. (1 cast (75%), 2 casts (50%), 3 casts (25%).)
Trivia[]
- You could easily get out of the arena before the fight starts to kill the Deviled Egg easier, but walls and trees will sometimes block the orbs you need in order to hit Deviled Egg.
- Deviled Egg is an immortal being, though its physical form can be destroyed.
