Estoc

Estoc is an NPC and Boss in Midnight Horrors. He is an OC created by BeezelduD. He's referenced in the 3rd Anniversary event through the background papers on Oculus' desk. Though he makes his first physical appearance in the April Fools 2022 event after defeating the final boss. His second and latest appearance is in the 2nd part of the Easter 2023 event, after defeating The Corpse of The Saint.

Estoc enters the arena and deals the finishing blow to The Corpse of the Saint after you stagger them before whisking the Corpse away, he will then praise you for winning the fight mentioning he himself failed to do so in an earlier attempt, shortly after telling you that he has no intentions to fight you there and now and telling you to take the chance and leave. You will have two options: "Respectfully leave" and "Stubbornly stand up and fight". If you choose "Stubbornly stand up and fight," and have enough health left, the battle will begin. He will however refuse to fight you if your health is too low.

Fight[]

After Estoc says he is disappointed in the player for choosing to stubbornly stand up and fight him, the fight will begin. He cannot actually kill the player and instead leave them at very, very low health.

Attacks[]

Shadow Dicer: Raises his sword at the player for a moment, before vanishing, creating several red slashes upon the player that cannot be avoided, Estoc reappears afterward.
Slash Barrage: Rapidly slashes while dashing at the player, amount of slashes are random.
Orb Cluster: Swing horizontally, releasing a scatter of shade orbs encircling Estoc, before creating a mass of explosions.
Spike Arisen: Raises his sword into the air, before summoning several columns of rising spikes that move outwards.
Eruption Dash: Quickly swings while bolting a distance, additionally creating few columns of erupting explosions in between his prior and current location.
Thorn Tosser: Throw several instantaneous thorns at the player, which create an eruption upon impacting the ground.
[PASSIVE] Sword Deflect: While not attacking, Estoc will automatically block the first hit taken.
[PASSIVE] Relocation: Teleports near the player if they're too far away.
[PASSIVE] Imminent Death: Upon reaching 10% HP, Estoc will continuously use Slash Barrage with no cooldown. Regardless of his HP, he will not be defeated.

Dialogue[]

April Fools 2022[]

Estoc starting up a conversation with Mouldread.

"With all due respect, how long do you think this'll last?"

Estoc answering if he agrees with Mouldread's question.

"Considering the way you've explained it, yes. I suppose I do."

After Mouldread asks if he's found Circulation.

"No, no I have not."
"However, I can assure you. The Father's Army dwindles with every waking moment. Archangel Douma has been slain."

After hearing Mouldread's eloquently spoken death threat.

"Y-Yes."
"Of course, father. forgive my insolence. I promise this won't happen again like this."

Estoc asking why Mouldread has decided to spare the captured players.

"Yes, I understand. But please, explain to me why you've decided to spare them?"

Estoc asking what use the players might have to Mouldread.

"I assume you are referring to mind control, yes? You've done the same with some of The Father's angels in the past."
"Oculus tried too at some point, if I'm not mistaken."

After Mouldread dismisses Estoc.

"Of course, father."

Easter 2023[]

Estoc appearing after The Corpse of the Saint is defeated.

"Well done..."
"Indeed, well done. I'm impressed..."
"Not only have saved me the effort, you've also done what I couldn't before."
"Indeed, it seems my respect of you was well placed."
"I have no intentions of fighting you here and now, you've done your part."
"Take this opportunity, and take your leave."

If player chooses to "Respectfully leave".

"Personally, I believe you deserve to know a little more."
"The Father is not to be trusted."
"Don't play into his hands, though. I doubt you have the choice."
"As for the corpse... Mouldread will be elated to see his father again."
"May we meet again."

If player chooses to "Stubbornly stand up and fight".

"...You disappoint me."

After the player reaches low HP in the fight.

"Let this be a lesson."
"In your current state, we are worlds apart."

If player chooses to "Stubbornly stand up and fight" but is too low on HP.

"In your current condition?"
"I'd have to, less than respectfully, decline."

Trivia[]

Estoc enjoys reading history, dark fantasy and biology books.
- He'll read and practice attacks in his personal domain, the "Infinite Battlefield", which contains an altar supported by a large pit filled with (mostly Angel) corpses.
Estoc's army is made of beings who are amalgamations of armor, such as the four-armed being The General, Estoc's "equivalent" of Harbinger.
He was the one to kill two of Gilgamesh's archangels, Gens and Douma.
