The Hoverboard is an Event Item in Midnight Horrors. It is awarded by clearing many waves and defeating Scripter during the April Fools' 2025 event. It was added in Version 1.62.0 when the April Fools event ended.
Functionality[]
While equipped, visually nothing will happen. If the player were to click while equipped, they will summon and jump onto the hoverboard. While riding the hoverboard the player will move at a speed slightly faster than Skateboard, and will continuously travel forward in the direction the tip of the hoverboard is facing. The hoverboard's steering can be controlled through A and D on PC and the thumbstick on mobile, the player will slow down considerably while turning. If the player were to collide with a wall they will be immediately slowed to a stand still and be forced to turn off the wall to continue moving.
While riding the hoverboard, players can press Z to perform a kickflip and SPACE to perform a jump. Kickflips serve no functionality but the jump can be used to occasionally avoid some killers or attacks.
If the player equips a Coil (or any other speed increasing item) the hoverboard will gain a sizable speed boost, allowing it to outpace the coil itself. Notable uses include the Ultra Coil, as using it will boost the hoverboard to being faster than the Heliotrope Coil.
Notes[]
- Hoverboard will automatically be unequipped if the user tries to equip Broom, Cloud Jockey, Executioner's Gear, Gun, Ranga Workshop, and Skateboard.
- The reason for Ranga Workshop's restriction is because its functionality quite literally clashes with Hoverboard, causing it to remove Hoverboard's velocity and makes the user floats aimlessly.
- Using emotes that can't be moved will cause the player to slow down.
- Similarly to the Cloud Jockey, the player's hitbox floats in the air while in use which allows them to avoid Yolkster Plants and potentially hazardous ground effects like Third Impact's Shockwave.
- Hoverboard will bypass most killer-inflicted slowing effects and item negations.
Trivia[]
- Hoverboard was temporarily disabled because of various bugs relating to the item, these bugs included:
- Keeping the player inplace when an item is equipped.
- Colliding with uncollidable objects (ex: Invisible Walls & Red Circle of Oculus). (This bug still present.)
- Riding the void teleporter and not getting teleported back up the map.
